Alex has been drawing since she was old enough to hold a pen. Her first canvas was the walls of our home! Over time, she moved onto paper (thankfully), and her creativity has only grown from there.

When she was just four years old, Alex wanted to create a piece of art to help raise money for CASK, a rare genetic disorder. She drew a charming unicorn-lion hybrid and proudly handed it to me. I recreated her drawing digitally, and together we submitted our collaborative piece to an art auction in New York City. To our amazement, it was displayed in a SoHo gallery and sold for $450 USD.

That moment sparked something in her. She realized that her art could do more than make people smile, it could help people in need. From that day on, we became a team.

Through our Alex + Mom project, we’ve been raising money for the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, donating 50% of the profits from each artwork we create together. So far, we’ve raised over $1,500 and we’re not stopping anytime soon.

Every piece we make is a collaboration. Alex’s imaginative sketches, full of heart and whimsy, paired with my finishing touches. Whether it’s a custom pet portrait or a playful design on a magnet or bookmark, each one is made with love and purpose.
