Visual artist biography

It’s summer in Canada, and that means everybody’s outside. I’ve been meeting a lot of wonderful people lately, and I always enjoy sharing a little bit about my art journey with those who are interested. I thought I would make a blog post here explaining a little bit about myself as an artist.

Artist biography

Kendra Malcolm is a Canadian artist and creative professional whose career has spanned continents and disciplines. She studied at the Alberta College (University) of Art and Design and later at the School of Visual Arts in New York, where she deepened her love for expressive visual storytelling and advertising.

Kendra began her creative career in New York City, working at renowned advertising agencies including Gotham and DeVito/Verdi, where she honed her skills in concept development, branding, and visual communication. She art directed multiple TV commercials, radio spots, websites, digital ads, and print campaigns. Her creative journey then took her across the globe to Cambodia, where she joined the social impact agency 17 Triggers, developing visual communication that bridged the gap between global NGOs and communities in need. Then to Africa, where she spent a month working on Airtel’s mobile banking initiative, helping bring financial access to remote communities and villages.

Today, Kendra lives and works in Winnipeg, Canada, where she has returned to her roots in painting and drawing. She teaches art online to learners of all ages and has now taught over 2,000 students. Her artwork is vibrant, joyful, and full of personality, often focused on expressive animals and the emotions they evoke. She also shares her passion for creativity through public art installations, custom commissions, and her growing YouTube channel, where she offers free tutorials and behind-the-scenes glimpses into her process.

Whether working on global campaigns or painting in her studio, Kendra is driven by a desire to spark connection, uplift others, and bring a little more joy into the world through creativity.
